Revolutionary twentieth-century design side by side with innovative pieces that respect its legacy. These are the main ideas behind Vitra, a brand that is at the forefront of Scandinavian design.
Vitra was founded in 1950 in Birsfelden, Switzerland, as the family business of Willi and Erika Fehlbaum. During the 1950s they launched their most famous products, designed by the leading designers of the time. To name a few, the iconic Eames chair, the Eames Lounge Chair or the popular black Eames House Bird, all designed by husband and wife American designers Charles and Ray Eames. Equally famous are the memorable Coconut Chair by designer George Nelson and the Sunflower clock.
Followed by other collections such as the designer plastic Panton Chair by Verner Panton, and later the Standard series of chairs designed by Jean Prouvé. In the DesignVille portfolio, you can buy tables from him such as Bois or Guéridon.
All of these unique, timeless pieces quickly became popular around the world, securing Vitra's unique position in the design world and, of course, are part of the brand to this day.
Vitra is not only synonymous with interior design in the Scandinavian spirit, but also with the countless architectural gems that are part of the Vitra Campus. Places with stunning examples of the world's design and architecture of the last century.
