The iconic and curvatious Panton chair was designed by the famous designer Verner Panton at the turn of 1959/1960. At first, it seemed impossible to make a console chair from a single piece of plastic. After many fails Panton teamed up with the Swiss brand Vitra and together they developed the first ever all-plastic chair that won one design award after another. Originally called Panton Chair Classic, the chair was made of fibreglass in a glossy lacquered finish, but due to its fragility, a plastic variant (polypropylene) in a matt finish was added in the 1990s, called Panton Chair.
The Vitra range also includes a children's version of the chair, which is 25% smaller than the original and is suitable for pre-schoolers or smaller children. The chair in playful colours will make a great piece to a child's room or play area.
