Alexander Girard was born in New York and, although he studied architecture, in his career he focused mainly on interior design and graphic art.
Girard also focused on textiles with graphic prints in strong colors. The same prints can often be found, for example, on the dishes you will find, as well as other accessories from Girard, in the Vitra range.
Thanks to his frequent travels around the world, he also designed countless accessories inspired by other cultures – the collection of hand-carved Wooden Dolls speaks for itself. Together with designers Charles and Ray Eames and George Nelson, Girard was one of the leading figures in modern design.
