The Girard Bird wooden decoration by Vitra is based on a design sketches by American designer Alexander Girard.

The minimalist decoration from solid French maple wood in the shape of a bird comes from the original sketches from the 1940s. Designer Alexander Girard liked to create animal figures carved from a variety of materials. Although the features of the sculpture are reduced to a minimum, the archaic-looking bird is a clearly recognizable. The timeless decoration can be stand in two ways – on its feet or on its tail.
