Like the Egg and Drop chairs, the Swan chairs were designed for the lobbies and lounges of the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. These original design icons were created in Arne Jacobsen's garage at his home in Klampenborg, north of Copenhagen. They are still manufactured today by Fritz Hansen.
In its time, the Swan chair represented a revolutionary technological innovation, free of any straight lines. The body of the chair consists of a moulded synthetic shell resting on a swivel aluminium base.
