The lamp is part of the Nelson Bubble Lamp series, designed by American industrial designer George Nelson in 1947. The Pear Crisscross model is pear-shaped with curving lines at the bottom of the design that accentuate its curves. The lamp casts a soft, even light.
The frame of the shade is made of steel wire that is coated with a translucent plastic polymer.
