Originally created for the Royal Festival Hall by designer Robin Day, the iconic RFH collection is making a comeback after several decades. The Royal Festival Hall is an important institution not only in terms of design, but more significantly as a historical and cultural sight. In 1951, the building hosted a five-month exhibition to encourage future talent in design and other creative industries. At the same time, the exhibition was intended to promote the country's rebuilding and enthusiasm after the war.
The RFH Armchair is characterised by its compact size and distinctive silhouette. Its design is based on 'contemporary', which in the British scene is the term for mid-century modern. Armchair is made from beech veneer on the back and walnut veneer on the front. It is complemented by a comfortable padded seat and black metal base. Its size make it suitable for more modest spaces, it looks great not only in dining rooms, but also in offices or restaurants.
