The lamp is part of the Nelson Bubble Lamp series, designed by American industrial designer George Nelson in 1947. The Roll model has a softly squared shape and offers the pendant in a slightly cylindrical form. The lamp casts a soft, even light.
The frame of the shade is made of steel wire, which is coated with a translucent plastic polymer. When used in conjunction with a wall mounted dimmer and suitable LED bulb, the lamp can be dimmable.
