The black statue of the Eames bird was originally brought back from their travels by husband and wife designers Charles and Ray Eames, and they treasured it - it was the "centrepiece" of the living room in their Eames House. With roots in traditional American culture, the figurine has become a modern design icon over the years, representing modern design for many.
Vitra, in collaboration with the Eames Office, later created a new version of the Eames House Bird in natural walnut wood. This design gives the figurine a natural character and highlights the precise handcrafting. The bird is made of lacquered wood and its graceful silhouette stands out beautifully as a timeless decorative object in the interior.
