The Bellevue lamp was created by Arne Jacobsen as one of his early designs. It was in 1929, when the world was being shaken by the Great Depression and people were longing for a new lifestyle. In designing, Jacobsen was inspired by the new technological possibilities of steel tube production and the modernist design of the Bauhaus.
Bellevue lamps have a flexible gooseneck and adjustable height. They are characterised by a 45° "cut" angle, a feature that Arne Jacobsen returned to later in his other lamp designs. Today Bellevue lamps are manufactured by the Danish brand &Tradition.
