At first, Theresa Rand studied languages. However, she continued her education by studying architecture at the Peter Behrens School of Architecture in Düsseldorf, Germany. Later, she graduated in a Master of Arts in Architecture & Furniture Design at the Royal Academy of Arts. Already during her studies, she gained valuable experiences working with leading design studios such as Norm Architects and Space Copenhagen. At that time, her first designs for Menu, the brand she still colaborate with today, were created.
Design pieces, such as Échasse vases, show the intention to create not only functional objects, but also those that enhance the warm atmosphere of home. The designer therefore works very intuitively, knowing that furniture and accessories impact the space we live in. She chooses from natural and lasting materials, combining them with each other. The interest in metal elements is illustrated not only by the collection of elegant vases mentioned, but also by the practical Menu Turning Table.
