Sami Kallio, originally from Finland, grew up in Sweden, where he graduated from the Gothenburg School of Design and Crafts. He combines his deep understanding of wood with artistic processing and modern methods. He approaches design in the same way, traditional aspect from the current perspective.
Jakob Thau was born in Sweden and raised in Denmark. He graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Design. He believes in timelessness as a way to create a design that will be easy to understand and love for decades. From all of the techniques of furniture making the main center of his interest is woodmaking and the possibilities of its development.
A joint venture of both designers is the Betty collection, named after the Betty Nansen Theater in Copenhagen. Unlike the theatre, however, the design of the seating furniture did not allow itself to be closed between the four walls; on the contrary, he thinks of the needs of the space regardless of its purpose.
