GUBI

GUBI was founded in Denmark in 1967 by Gubi Olsen and his wife Lisbeth. The main philosophy of the GUBI brand is to rediscover lost design icons and at the same time create the future ones. At GUBI, the emphasis is on aesthetics, innovation, functionality and quality.

The family business was taken over by Jacob Gubi Olsen, who thus continues the tradition and translates the vision of his parents into the present context. That is also in line with the overall idea of the brand – strive to move forward with the help of intuition. This will ensure that their design is always up to date, but at the same time, it will be based on the legacy of iconic pieces.

In the GUBI portfolio, we can find many timeless pieces of world design from the 1930s, 40s, 50s and 60s. For all of them, let us mention the collection of Bestlite luminaires from 1930, designed by British designer Robert Dudley Best (the Bestlite lamp was in office of Winston Churchill), Gräshoppa lamps by designer Greta M. Grossmann from 1947 and the iconic Adnet Circulaire mirror by designer Jacques Adnet from 1950.

At the same time, GUBI collaborates with talented contemporary designers, such as the Danish duo Komplot Design, famous for its GUBI 3D chair collection, or designer Oliver Schick, who designed the Ronde lamp collection for GUBI.

The DesignVille portfolio also includes Multi-Lite lamps designed by designer Louis Weisdorf in the 1970s. The luminaire is a perfect representative of the golden era of Danish design.

GUBI is based in Copenhagen, Denmark, where we also find a 2000 m2 showroom. The company is currently run by sons Jacob and Sebastian.
