Jakub Pollág, originally from Bratislava, and Václav Mlynář, who came from Prague, met at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, and then also at the Royal College of Art in London. The common goal to participate in Designblok led them to establishing their own studio. In 2011, the deFORM studio, the brand under which they presented their exhibition at the design exhibition, was created. The name refers to the fascination with changes, forming and deforming of the shape of glass – a material that has become one of the creative duo’s domains.
In 2017, the deFORM studio entered the role of artistic director for glass and lighting manufacturer Bomma. In Bomma ‘s portfolio, you can admire, for example, Orbital pendant lamps, created by none other than Pollág and Mlynář.
They have also collaborated with brands such as Heineken, Botas or Nike. The creators thus imprinted their sense of design on dozens of products and campaigns, for which they received many prestigious awards, including the Czech Grand Design Award.
