ARKEN MUSEUM OF MODERN ART
Ishøj, Denmark
Like a lifeboat, a café rises alongside the famous Arken Gallery in Ishøj, Denmark, where you can refresh yourself before or after viewing modern artworks. The interior is reminiscent of a ship, especially thanks to its many wooden elements. The glass walls provide unique views of the surrounding landscape, while the earthy palette of warm tones and natural materials make it feel as if perhaps nothing separates the café from the adjacent park and Køge Bay. In order not to disturb this harmony and to pay homage to quality design, the architects at Urgent.agency also chose the furnishings themselves. For comfortable seating, they chose Grand Prix chairs with oak seats and Orient lamps from the Danish brand Fritz Hansen.
HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN'S HOUSE
Odense, Denmark
Spaces that immerse you in fairytale adventures and bring you closer to Hans Christian Andersen's creative world through light, music and architecture can be found in Odense, Denmark. The museum of the famous author of children's books was conceived by the architects of the Japanese studio Kengo Kuma & Associates as a collection of many corners that, as well as telling stories, also stimulate the imagination. Here, too, you will find the aforementioned Grand Prix chairs signed by another famous Dane, Arne Jacobsen.
STATENS MUSEUM FOR KUNST & AROS AARHUS ART MUSEUM
Copenhagen, Denmark & Aarhus, Denmark
Designed by the Bouroullec brothers for HAY, the Palissade furniture collection blends perfectly with private garden environments and public spaces. You can see this, among other things, when you visit the Danish National Gallery or the ARoS art gallery in Aarhus, Denmark. While the National Gallery boasts the largest ever collection of artworks in Denmark, ARoS is the oldest art institution outside the capital. Both places attract not only with their exhibitions, but also with the architecture itself, which you can admire from the outside, for example in the comfort of the aforementioned outdoor furniture.
In the case of ARoS, the design of the Danish brand HAY will also surround you in the interior of the gallery. Here, the architects worked with combinations of metal and wood, which is why they chose, among other things, the Pyramide furniture or the wooden chairs from the J-Series. Daylight is complemented by PC lamps or Bonbon textile pendant lights.
