Designer Tom Dixon became well known during the 1980s when he began working with famous brands such as the Italian company Capellini, for which he designed the famous S-Chair, and the British retail giant Habitat, where he worked as creative director. He was awarded the Order of the British Empire in 2000 for his services to design and subsequently founded his own brand, Tom Dixon, based in London in 2002.
With the aim of innovating and restoring the glory of the British furniture industry, today the Tom Dixon brand builds primarily on the heritage and tradition of British engineering.
Each year Tom Dixon presents new products at the Milan and Paris trade fairs, and its products are sold in 68 countries around the world. Some of Tom Dixon's better-known products include the Mirror Ball lamp, the Beat collection of lamps, and the Eclectic Scent candles.
